Cinderella II
On June 18, the 42 meter long, 50 dwt passenger ship Cinderella II allided with the quay at Stockholm, Sweden. The Cinderella II was returning from Sandhamn bound for Strandvägen with 230 persons on board. As the vessel approached the quay, it suffered power loss from an engine failure.
Unable to slow down, the Cinderella II struck with considerable speed. Eleven persons on board sustain injuries and several were taken to hospital for treatment. The passenger ship suffered hull damage with a dent to the bow. Reports state some damage to the interior from tables and chairs being tossed during the incident.
The passenger ship was later taken out of service and proceeded to Nybrokajen to be inspected. Reports state the Cinderella II had been taken out of service a few weeks earlier to replace one of its engines. Swedish authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
