Achim

The 86 meter long self-propelled barge Achim ran aground on the Danube near Wilshofen-Wieshof, Germany. The Achim departed from Vislhofen with 1000 tons of fertilizer when it encountered dense fog. The vessel veered out of the fairway and drove up into the shallows. The Achim suffered outer hull breaches and water ingress, but the inner hull remained intact. The water police and the local fire brigade were alerted and arrived on scene a short time later. Their efforts help dewatering and salvage of the Achim. No reports of injuries or pollution released.
