During the early morning hours of April 3, the 107 meter long, 6852 dwt tanker Sun Flora collided with the wooden 83 gt fishing vessel Sri-nopparat 11 in the Gulf of Thailand off Sattahip, Thailand. The trawler quickly broke apart sending its 8 crew overboard into the water.  A passing trawler saw the incident and was able to rescue all 8 crewmen. The Sun Flora did not stop and continued on to  Bangkok. No reports of injuries or damage to the Sun Flora.  Local authorities were alerted and have launched an investigation into the incident.

Ronja

Ronja

On April 2, the 90 meter long, 4500 dwt cargo vessel Ronja allided with the northern lock on the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The Ronja was en route to Sczcecin from Figueira da Foz when it struck the lock gate. The vessel was detained by the water police at Brunsbüttel for an hour until it was allowed to continue on its voyage. No reports of injuries, damage or pollution released.

The 85 meter long self-propelled tanker-barge Nicole Burmester ran aground on the Western Scheldt near Terneuzen, Netherlands. The tanker had departed from Antwerp when it mistook a buoy for a harbor light and stranded on a submerged breakwater. The crew requested assistance with multiple tugs responding. The tugs were able to pull the Nicole Burmester free.  The tugs then escorted the tanker to the port of Terneuzen. There it berthed and authorities had divers inspect the hull for damage. No reports of injuries.  The incident is under investigation.
