On the early afternoon of January 18, the 146 meter long, 10872 dwt cargo vessel FWN Atlantide (IMO: 9535620) was the first vessel to approach the southern lock on the Kiel Canal at Brunsbüttel, Germany. The lock had been damaged a few days before by the container ship Nordic Porto on January 16. The FWN Atlantide was headed for Rostock from Aliaga when it entered the southern lock and it allided with the tail structure of the lock.  Reports state the vessel was detained a few hours while an investigation into the incident was conducted. The FWN Atlantide was allowed to proceed on its voyage later that same afternoon.  No reports on the extent of damage, there were any injuries or pollution released.
