Typhoon Dodong Claims 3 Boats

Heavy seas and strong winds from the typhoon Dodong overwhelmed two fishing vessels off Pangasinan, Philippines.   The fishing vessel 3M’s Wolf sank off Agno after being battered by the typhoon.  The crew contacted the Coast Guard that 24 men on board the fishing vessel needed assistance.   A nearby freighter Sea Palace was nearby and was able to safely rescue all 24 crew of the  3M’s Wolf.   The men were later transferred to a Coast Guard vessel BRP-Nueva Vizcaya.  The fishing vessel Eric was also caught by the typhoon.   The fishing vessel capsized in the heavy seas off Alaminos.   The three  men on board were thrown into the water and would have quickly drowned if not a passing banca caught sight of the men.   The banca pulled the men out of the water and returned the men safely to shore.   Another motorized banca was out fishing at night with 9 men when the large waves hit the banca and went to pieces.   The men went into the water and struggled to stay alive by holding onto pieces of the smashed vessel.  The men held on during the night until morning when another banca sighted the men.   All nine men survived and were taken to hospital at llocos Sur.
