The 82 meter long, 1649 dwt freighter Ajaks-1 went adrift while off Bely Island, Russia in the Kara Sea, Arctic Ocean.  The Ajaks-1 suffered a complete blackout when both the generator and its backup failed.  The tug MB-1208 has responded to the Ajaks-1 distress signal and is proceeding to the scene.   Information is limited as the Ajaks-1’s radio was operating on low batteries.  No reports of injuries.
