Dogu Haslaman

Dogu Haslaman

The 71 meter long, 1916 dwt freighter Dogu Haslaman sank off the coast near Cesme, Turkey.  The vessel was proceeding to Ashdod, Israel from Instanbul with a cargo of nitrates when the vessel suffered water ingress in the machine room.   The vessel sent out a distress call with the nearby vessel Pirireis responding.   Eleven crewmen were rescued, but two crewmen perished due to a heart attack.   The men were later transferred to a  Coast Guard vessel.

Alsten

Alsten

The 57 meter long, 261 dwt ro-ro ferry Alsten allided with the quay at Søvik, Norway.   The Alsten was approaching the dock when strong winds pushed it against the quay.    All 18 passengers on board were unharmed, but the ferry suffered some damage to it’s hull.   The Alsten was unable to maneuver and required two tugs to be berthed.  The ferry was pulled from service for repairs.

Credo Fire

Credo Fire

The 114 meter long, 3134 dwt freighter Credo caught fire while berthed on the Dnieper River at Kherson, Ukraine.   The fire started in the living quarters and quickly spread to other compartments.   Local firefighters and a fire boat were called to the scene and a few hours later the fire was extinguished.   All the crew were able to escape with only one crewman suffering light burns to his hands.  The cause of the fire was not reported.
