The 228 meter long , 70426 dwt tanker Formosa Falcon went aground off Freeport, Grand Bahama.  The tanker was repositioning at the Freeport anchorage when heavy winds forced the vessel aground at the bow.  An inspection showed no hull breach.  No injuries and no pollution was released.  Tugs attempted to refloat the Formosa Falcon on the following high tide, but without success.  Authorities have placed response vessels on station around the vessel while tugs have kept the tanker in place in the event of worsening conditions.   The Formosa Falcon was loaded with 12,796 tons of alkylate at the time of the grounding.
