Nat aground
The fishing vessel Nat went aground near Yaquina Bay off Newport, Oregon. The crabbing boat had gone nearly ashore with the vessel just 50 yards offshore. The crew sent out a distress call before all three crew on board abandoned ship and swam ashore. The crew were later treated for possible hypothermia. Authorities state there was 700 gallons of diesel fuel on board, but no pollution was released. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident. The cause of the grounding was not reported.
