The 6611 dwt tanker Grigoriy Bugrov collided with the fireboat PGK-638 in the Volga–Caspian Sea Canal near the 150 kilometer mark.  The PGK-638 struck the tanker in the port bow section.   The tanker’s hull had a 1.5 meter hole in the hull 3 meters above the waterline.   The fireboat had its railings bent and a life raft damaged.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   Both vessels are heading to Astrakhan for further investigation.  The Grivoriy Bugrov had been originally scheduled to sail to Astrakhan, Russia from Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan with 5000 metric tons of heavy fuel oil.
