Nordic Erika

Nordic Erika

The 88 meter long freighter Nordic Erika went aground after running into an embankment in the Kiel Canal.   The freighter was unable to refloat itself and a tug was called for assistance.   The tug towed the Nordic Erika to Brunsbuettel.   No reports of injuries, damage or pollution being released.  The Nordic Erika was bound to Cork from Gdynia.

Ice Bird

Ice Bird

The 93 meter long, 3546 dwt reefer Ice Bird went aground at Rya, Norway after the vessel suffered an engine failure.  The Ice Bird was refloated and proceeded to Tromso.   No reports of injuries or pollution being released.

Adriana

Adriana

The 80 meter long, 1130 dwt self-propelled barge Adriana allided with a dock at Emden, Germany.  The Adriana’s hull was holed in the bow and there was water ingress.   To avoid sinking, the Adriana was driven onto a mud bank.  No reports of injuries or pollution being released.   The water police responded and supplied a dewatering pump.  With the pump installed, the Adriana tried and failed to pull itself off the mud.  A tug was requested and the vessel was pulled free the next day.  The water police is conducting an investigation into the incident.
