The 150 meter long tanker Solero allided with a lock gate to the entrance to the Kiel Canal at Holtenau, Germany.  The Solero had suffered an engine failure while mooring and  remained stuck in the lock during the night as repairs to the lock could not be made until the following day.   The northern lock was reopened to avoid a total closure to traffic.  A crane and work boat were brought to the scene to make emergency repairs.  No reports of injuries and no pollution was released.
